University College School Digital Archives

Welcome to University College School's archives

University College School was founded on Gower Street in 1830, as part of University College London, and moved to its current location on Frognal in 1907. The school was born out of a desire to educate without regard to race or creed, and built on the Benthamite principles of liberal scholarship and education. The founding ethos remains to this day – intellectual curiosity, breadth of study and independence of mind combine to achieve academic excellence; they are not subordinate to it.

With nearly 200 years of history, it is now more important than ever to begin preserving our archival material and make it accessible to all Old Gowers and members of the UCS community. Through this website, you will be able to search The Gower magazine and, in future, images, school publications, artwork, registers, speech day programmes and much more. In 2030, UCS will celebrate its 200th birthday, by which time we hope to have digitised all our archives. If you would like to support this project in any way, please email archives@ucs.org.uk.
